Frederick William “Fred” Weiss Jr., a cherished pillar of his family and community, passed away peacefully yesterday morning at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Weiss was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, remembered for his unwavering kindness, gentle spirit, and steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew him. A longtime resident of the East Rockaway area, he was known for his strong work ethic, quiet generosity, and deep love for his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish his memory, wisdom, and the legacy of love he built.
The family will receive friends at the Donza Funeral Home, located at 333 Atlantic Ave, East Rockaway, NY 11518, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and again on Thursday, April 23, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Raymond’s RC Church, 263 Atlantic Ave, East Rockaway, NY 11518.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of your choice in Fred’s memory. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
